On August 11, 2011 the Climbers' Access Society of Alberta was officially registered with the provincial governement (Society # 5012611546).
The obvious question is "What does this mean?"
In the short term, it means that we can legally enter into agreements, have a bank account, etc. However, the registration has broader implications. In less than a years time, we will be having an Annual General Meeting where members of the organization will elect a board of directors, review the activity of the group, and set the direction for the coming year. In a very real sense, the registration is an important step in building a sustainable organization that will work toward preserving access to climbing in Alberta.
